Building Work Starts on Ottawa’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Construction work has begun on Canada’s first Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa. The work is due to be complete by spring 2025 and the venue will replace the Rideau Carleton Casino.
The resort is set to include a 150-room hotel complete with 2 suites, 1,500 slot machines, 40 table games, a sportsbook, a high roller room and a baccarat room. It will also house a 1,800 seat Hard Rock Live theater with a standing area for 2,200, as well as 10 dining options, bars and lounges.
We are excited to be one step closer to bringing our iconic brand and rich music history to the people of Ottawa and the surrounding region. I wish to thank the provincial and municipal elected officials who helped us get here today. We are especially grateful to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) who have been incredibly supportive in helping make this possible. We appreciate our partnership with them.
It is thought that the private investment development will create up to 1,900 new direct and indirect construction jobs as well as several long-term jobs.
The Mayor of Ottawa, Mark Sutcliffe, called it a “significant investment” in the south of the city and said that not only will it create new jobs but it “will also be another great tourist attraction in Ottawa.”
In honor of the construction ceremony, Future Hard Rock made a donation of CAD$20,000 to Minwaashin Lodge, a local shelter for Indigenous women. A representative for the company said, “Hard Rock International which is wholly owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida is fully committed to supporting local and Indigenous organisations through charitable donations, sponsorships and partnerships.”
