The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has launched a new online casino game titled Voice of the Wheel, which is designed specifically to accommodate blind and low-vision players. The game represents a major step forward in digital accessibility within the Canadian iGaming industry, as it is the first online casino game in the country to be tailored for individuals with visual impairments.

At the time of the launch, no private iGaming operators in Ontario had introduced comparable features or games that addressed the needs of blind or low-vision players.

Ontario's iGaming Market Grows Exponentially
The introduction of Voice of the Wheel coincided with a period of strong financial growth in Ontario's regulated online gambling market. According to figures released by iGaming Ontario, the province's iGaming sector generated CA$313 million in revenue in April, reflecting a 25% increase compared to the CA$250 million reported during the same month last year.
Internet casino games accounted for the majority of this revenue, underscoring the continued popularity of the digital casino segment.
In addition to revenue gains, the number of active player accounts in Ontario increased by 20% on a year-over-year basis. This growth suggests sustained consumer engagement and interest in the province's regulated digital gaming offerings. Ontario currently remains the only jurisdiction in Canada with a fully open and competitive iGaming market, although similar legislative models are being evaluated in other provinces.
Over 70 licensed operators are active in the Ontario iGaming ecosystem, which is regulated jointly by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). These regulatory bodies are responsible for enforcing standards related to game integrity, responsible gambling, and player protection. The addition of accessibility initiatives like Voice of the Wheel complements existing regulatory priorities and sets a precedent for further innovation in inclusive game design.
