Pennsylvania Posts Second Highest iGaming Revenue in August

Pennsylvania has posted a substantial gaming revenue increase in August 2024.

August iGaming revenue represents the second-highest monthly total in Pennsylvania, shy of March 2024's record $191.1m.

According to the latest gaming results released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the state raked in $525.5 million in gaming revenue for August, up 14.9% compared to the same month in 2023.

The total revenue combines receipts from various gaming activities regulated by the PGCB in the state, including online gaming, slots, table games, sports betting, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs).

The online casinos in Pennsylvania generated $183.7 million in August, marking an increase of 29% year-on-year. The revenue also represents the second-highest monthly total in Pennsylvania, shy of March 2024's record $191.1 million.

Retail table accounted for $80.9 million in revenue last month, despite being down by $2 million from last year. In contrast, retail slot machines saw an increase of $8 million year-over-year to $211.1 million. Video gaming terminals' revenue rose by 5.7% to $3.7 million, while fantasy sports earnings fell to $647,522.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course continues to maintain its lead in the market with $72.1 million in online casino revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort came second with $46.0 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $30.8 million in revenue.

FanDuel Leads Sports Betting Market

During the month, the sports betting handle reached $485.3 million. Online bets accounted for $457.5 million, while the remaining $27.7 million came in from retail sports betting. Gross sports betting revenue amounted to $45.4 million, and after promotional credits were deducted, fell to $30.0 million.

Regarding operators, FanDuel, in partnership with Valley Forge, remained dominant with $13.3 million in August gross revenue. DraftKings, partnered with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, came second, reporting $7.8 million in revenue from a handle of $124.4 million.
