Responsible Gambling Charities Praise ICE Consumer Protection Zone
At the 2018 edition of ICE London, Clarion Gaming launched the ICE London Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) to highlight the importance of safer gambling and now it has been shortlisted in two categories at the Vixio Global Regulatory Awards.
Tim Miller, the Executive Director of the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, laid the foundations for the Consumer Protection Zone and the iGaming event, and it has grown to host to several charities and organizations that are dedicated to safer gambling practices.
Furthermore, sponsors of the CPZ have raised £146,000 for responsible gambling charities. The initiative has been praised by David Richardson, the Strategic Partnerships Manager at Better Change, an organization that helps operators tackle harmful gambling.
It (the CPZ) has brought player protection front and centre. The contribution we received as a result of being part of CPZ at ICE 2022 has helped us develop our product range and continue to strive towards our mission of protecting everyone from gambling related harm. We believe working with operators and in collaboration with all industry stakeholders is the way to achieve this and we look forward to working with the industry in 2023 and beyond.
Similarly, Rob Mabbett, the Director of External Engagement at Gordon Moody, which is one of the UK’s main gambling therapy providers, said that CPZ has enabled the organization to increase awareness of gambling harm and form connections with key industry bodies. He added, “Generating a focus for safer gambling and gambling therapy services provides organisations such as Gordon Moody with a voice, which is invaluable.”
Speaking about the future of the CPZ, Ewa Bakun, the Director of Industry Insight and Engagement at Clarion Gaming, said that the shortlisting of the initiative in two categories at the Vixio Global Regulatory Awards, is recognition of the work it does.
She added, “ICE London was the first business-to-business gaming event to recognise the importance of safer gambling and has led the way in bringing providers and operators together. We will shortly start allocating stands and we are expecting all of our 2022 supporters to return next February as we highlight the industry’s commitment to reducing gambling related harms.”
