The largest four gambling operators in Great Britain were the major contributors, collectively donating £46.6m. Funding the National Gambling Support Network
The charity is responsible for the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN), which offers free, confidential treatment services across Great Britain. It also runs the National Gambling Helpline, which manages around 52,000 calls and online chats annually.
For many years, we have been calling for the introduction of a statutory levy on the gambling industry, and we are pleased the Government has committed to delivering this as part of the Gambling White Paper. Discussions about the transition to the new funding model are ongoing with the UK Gambling Commission and the Department for Culture Media and Sport.

In addition to the voluntary donations, GambleAware received £33.5m from regulatory settlement funds allocated by the Gambling Commission last year. These funds are managed as a restricted resource to support the stabilization of the gambling harm prevention, support, and treatment system during the shift from voluntary donations to a statutory levy.
GambleAware has emphasized the importance of minimal disruption during this transition to maintain the continuity of its services. The charity has also been active in advocating for better health warnings on gambling advertisements, following survey results indicating that current messages are less effective than needed.
In May 2024, GambleAware addressed a complaint regarding its independence and the quality of its services. The charity asserted that it has strong governance and commissioning practices to ensure the gambling industry does not influence its operations. The Charity Commission is currently reviewing the complaint.
