UKGC Fines Admiral Casino for Continued Compliance Breaches
The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) has announced it has fined Greentube Alderney, the owner of the Admiral Casino brand, for failings in its social responsibility and anti-money laundering (AML) procedures.
The statement goes on to give details of the penalty, which amounts to a £1 million fine, for Greentube failing to follow its own procedures to protect customers over checks on deposit limits and not implementing checks to identify vulnerable customers. Additionally, there were also AML failings where the operator did not verify large transactions or customer accounts.
The UKGC said last year they had identified breaches of its code relating to activities in 2021 and had spoken to GreenTube, and said because there were still outstanding compliance failures, it had no choice but to issue a penalty notice against the operator.
Furthermore the UKGC said the gaming operator had fully cooperated with the regulatory investigation and accepted the findings of the commission.

UKGC Outlines Admiral Casino Breaches
In its penalty statement the UKGC highlighted areas relating to social responsibility where Admiral Casino had failed to comply with the gambling framework in the UK. These included setting customers gambling limits at levels that the regulator described as not sustainable. The operator did not request or verify proof of income documents from customers.
The fine was also imposed for a failure to enforce robust AML procedures such as monitoring unusual customer account transactions. As well as instances of customer having duplicate accounts or listing dubious job occupations.
While we noted that the business had made significant general improvements, further regulatory breaches were still identified. The operator was subsequently required to swiftly put in place an effective action plan designed to remedy all of the identified failings.
We want to remind all operators that any business found to breach rules designed to keep gambling safe and free from crime for a second time should expect increasingly stringent enforcement action. Any failure to uphold anti-money laundering standards is unacceptable, and today’s action reflects the gravity of the breaches identified.
The UKGC is strictly enforcing the gambling legislation in the country and last year hit the celebrity-backed fantasy football platform Sorare with a fine for unlicensed gambling.
