In a blackjack game, this is the player who is in the far left seat, so to the immediate right of the dealer. They are the last player to take a turn before the dealer plays.

This term refers to taking action designed to confuse your opponent and give you an advantage in a hand, but in a way that’s either against the rules or very close to breaking them. One example of angle shooting is making a forward move with your chips to gauge a reaction and then pulling your bet back.

This is a nickname given to Ace King, a very strong starting hand that often doesn’t perform as well as expected. In addition to spelling initials of the popular tennis player, the nickname stuck because the hand “looks prettier than it actually plays.”

Blinds are a part of poker gameplay in flop-style variations. These are forced bets posted by the players to the left of the dealer button. There are most commonly two blinds - the small blind and the big blind.

A card held by the player that blocks certain combinations that other players could have. For example, if a straight draw on the board requires a hand like 6-7 to complete and you’re holding one 7 in your hand, you’re blocking some of the 6-7 combinations and making your opponent less likely to have it.

A bet, usually on the smaller side, designed to prevent your opponent from betting bigger if you check to them. It’s used when the betting player has a marginal hand with some showdown value, but they’d rather avoid making a big decision.

It is most often the entry fee for participating in a tournament or cash game, but this term can also be used in some casino games where the buy-in is required to play.

A buy bet is essentially the same as a place bet in craps since it includes wagering on the 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. But, you give the casino a 5% commission on the bet in return for true odds. The come bet is the same type of bet as the pass-line bet. The only difference is that it’s made after the come out roll after the point number has already been made.

The “come out” roll is the first roll of the craps game. Players who want to place pass/don’t pass bets have to do so before the come out roll. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, they win with the pass bet and losses with the don’t pass bet.

If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, they lose, and the players who made the don’t pass bet win. If the shooter rolls a 12, it’s a push. If the outcome of a roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, the point number is established, and the game continues.

Cards dealt in the middle of the table that all players can use to make their best five-card poker hand. These are used in games like Hold’em and Omaha.
