5,000 Evolution Employees in Georgia Expected to Strike This Week
This week, approximately 5,000 Evolution employees in Georgia are preparing to go on strike.
Evolution employees in Georgia prepare to strike over poor work conditions.
The announcement follows accusations published by Mautskebeli, the Georgian trade union news outlet, that Evolution Georgia’s employees have faced mistreatment, including hazardous working conditions, managerial harassment, and inadequate compensation.
Unsanitary Conditions and Pest Infestations
A video from Mautskebeli shows that cleaners at Evolution’s office are forced to take breaks in a room resembling a toilet. The footage allegedly shows an employee sitting on a pouf next to a toilet in a cramped, windowless room filled with boxes and toilet supplies scattered across the floor.
In addition, Mautskebeli posted images on Facebook displaying bug bites on various parts of employees’ bodies, suggesting that Evolution has long-standing issues with sanitation and pest infestations.
Screenshots released by the media portray a “degrading and abusive attitude” towards Evolution Georgia workers. According to the reports, employees have endured harassment that includes discriminatory, racist, and sexist comments.
Evolution employs around 8,000 people in Georgia, having established its Tbilisi office in 2018 to support its operations in Malta and Latvia. Local media reports indicate that the strike is scheduled to commence on July 12, with an estimated 5,000 employees expected to join.
