Allwyn Announces Mark Hughes as CSO for UK National Lottery
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Allwyn UK, the next operator of the UK National Lottery, has named Mark Hughes in the position of Chief Security Officer (CSO). Hughes is set to join the lottery operator at the start of next year on January 15th, as the company is due to take over the running of the UK National Lottery at the beginning of February.
Hughes is an industry veteran who joins the company from Smart DCC, where he held the post of Chief Information Security Officer and he was responsible for overseeing the security of the communications network. He had previously spent 16 years with Vodafone, working up to the position of Chief Security Officer, including leading the compliance strategy of the company.

Security is Critical to the National Lottery
Senior management at Allwyn has expressed the importance of security in the business, especially at this important transition period for the company which will take over the reins for the National Lottery next year.
Allwyn has stated they have plans for many changes for the National Lottery when the operator finally takes over. However, new products with new procedures will be when the company is at its most vulnerable from a security point of view and the company believes the experience Hughes has amassed over his career will be invaluable.
There are also plans to greatly increase the digital platform of the incoming lottery operator, and this will require further security measures to be introduced.
