Apple Launch Sports App That Features Live Scores and Betting Odds
Apple is expanding its foray into the world of sports with the introduction of its new dedicated Apple Sports app.
Available for free on the App Store in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., the app provides users with various features including real-time scores, team statistics, play-by-play updates and surprisingly, betting odds provided by DraftKings. While the addition of betting odds may signal an unusual endorsement of gambling by Apple, the company has stated that the app does not support betting and users can disable the option if they want to.
Seamless Experience
According to Apple, the app is designed to provide a tailored experience for sports enthusiasts. It covers a wide selection of leagues, including the MLS, NBA, NHL, Bundesliga, and Premier League. The company plans to include additional leagues like the MLB, NFL, WNBA and NCAAF in the future.
Users can choose their preferred sports leagues and teams on the setup screen and the app will automatically display past and upcoming games for the selected teams.
Easy Integration with Apple TV
If you have already selected your favorite teams and leagues in the Apple News or Apple TV apps, you can easily transfer them to Apple Sports. Additionally, users subscribed to sports streaming platforms like Apple TV Plus can conveniently tune in to live games directly from the scorecards.
The launch of Apple Sports is another significant step in Apple’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in live sports. Last year, the company unveiled MLS Season Pass, a soccer streaming service. It has also been airing Friday Night Baseball since 2022.
