Bet-at-home Exits British Market after License Suspension
bet-at-home has announced its decision to withdraw from the United Kingdom sports betting market following its license suspension by the UKGC.
The United Kingdom Gambling Commission suspended bet-at-home’s license in July 2022 based on concerns that the company had been running its business contrary to the terms laid out in the 2005 Gambling Act.
The commission pointed to faults like social responsibility failure and inadequate anti-money laundering policies.
When the commission first published its decision to suspend bet-at-home, the betting firm stated that it was not accepting new customer sign-ups and stopped betting and deposit facilities. However, existing customers can still access their accounts and withdraw their funds.
However, in its latest release, bet-at-home asserted that it will not challenge the suspension decision and will instead exit the UK market.
Dear players, unfortunately, we’ve decided to surrender our operating license granted by the UK Gambling Commission and to exit the British market. You are no longer able to register, bet, play or deposit with us at the moment. You will be able to log in to your account, and until 30/09/2022 (10:00 UK Time), you can request withdrawal of any remaining balance via email.
This comes about a year after bet-at-home’s withdrawal from the Austrian casino market.
