Since launching in August last year, more than 30,000 individuals in Australia have enrolled in the country’s BetStop self-exclusion program.
Australia pinned on the world map. Australia’s BetStop exceeds 30,000 sign-ups.
Data from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) shows that 30,493 people have registered for the service. BetStop, which went live on August 21, 2023, includes all licensed online and phone-based betting operators in the country.
The statistics, which cover the period up to September 30, 2024, show that 23,182 individuals had active self-exclusion agreements in place by that date. This means that 7,311 people either completed their self-exclusion period or chose to end it early.

New South Wales Tops BetStop Registrations
The majority of BetStop sign-ups were players based in New South Wales. The data shows that 9,537 people from the region have joined the program, with 1,482 of them signing up in the last quarter alone (July to September 2024).
Following New South Wales, there were 8,193 registrations in Victoria. Queensland recorded 6,140 sign-ups, while Western Australia had 3,279 and South Australia 1,871. Other states and territories each had fewer than 1,000 registrations.
ACMA’s figures also show that BetStop sign-ups have decreased for three consecutive quarters. In the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, 4,521 individuals joined the program, compared to 5,087 in the previous quarter (April to June 2024) and 5,445 in the quarter before that. This past quarter saw the lowest number of sign-ups since the program launched.
