Buenos Aires Province Accepting Bids for New Casinos
The Province of Buenos Aires is preparing to expand its land-based casino industry.

Bidding Opens for Longstanding Casinos
The seven casinos included in the bidding process are currently operating under extended versions of their original concessions. The operator Boldt S.A. is responsible for managing six of these casinos. Their contract extensions remain valid until December 31, 2025, or until new deals are finalized, depending on which comes first.
Officials believe the rise of online gambling has not diminished the role or importance of brick-and-mortar casinos. Rather, land-based venues are still seen as an important part of the province’s gaming industry. However, the current licensing opportunity is not designed for newcomers. Instead, it targets existing operators, those already running casinos under temporary extensions, who are now encouraged to submit more beneficial proposals.
Atanasof explained that this initiative is not solely about continuing current operations.
We are not only seeking to ensure the continuity of workers and improve their working conditions but also to attract investments that will help capitalize on the tourism and entertainment potential of each venue.

Bidding for 20-Year Licenses to Begin in July
A potential 20-year operating period is being considered for the new licenses. The official bidding process will begin on July 8, 2025, and will apply to casinos located in Necochea, Miramar, Tandil, Sasso, Hermitage, Mar de Ajó, and Sierra de la Ventana.
In contrast, the City of Buenos Aires decided in 2024 to halt the issuance of new online casino licenses, due to rising concerns over underage access and a need for stronger consumer protection. Regulatory priorities there have shifted toward tightening supervision of existing operators and reinforcing responsible gaming standards.
The City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires are governed independently when it comes to gambling regulation. Each jurisdiction sets and enforces its own rules for both online and land-based gambling operations.
