Córdoba Set for Online Gambling
Online gambling seems to be finally coming to the province of Córdoba in Argentina as its Lawmakers have put forward a bill that would legalize online gaming in the jurisdiction.
The bill will cover online gaming in the region and allow operators to offer casino games like table, slots, sports betting, and lotteries.
It will also eradicate illegal gambling and ensure customers' rights are protected in accordance with the constitution of the province of Córdoba.
Licenses would be open to any resident of Córdoba, while foreign operators would have to partner with a national legal entity under a Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) in Argentina to operate in the state. However, foreign operators are banned from contributing more than 35% of a licensee in such a scenario.
Approved operators will be able to use their licenses for 20 years before renewal. They must also ensure that any games they offer contain features that allow players to gamble safely, including functions to set deposit limits and request temporary or permanent exclusion from games.
The bill also covers gambling advertising and states that a casino could advertise or promote its services legally after it has gotten the required permission from the enforcement authority.
The province will use the profits from online gaming to fund the province's lottery. With the new bill, Córdoba is following the footsteps of the province and city of Buenos Aires. They had legalized online gaming and awarded licenses to operators in January and February last year. With these acts, it finally seems that the online gambling situation in Argentina is changing for the better.
