Court Overturns Pixbet Suspension in Brazil
Sports betting operator Pixbet has had its license reinstated in Brazil after getting a favorable ruling from a federal court judge.

On Friday, April 11, Brazil's betting regulator, the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), published an ordinance suspending the licenses of Pixbet and three other operators. The four operators were found non-compliant with Article 3 of Normative Ordinance No 2,104, which requires the submission of technical certificates and betting system approvals to the regulator.
The suspension, effective from the ordinance's publication, is scheduled to last up to 90 days. During this time, the operators are prohibited from offering fixed-odds betting until they complete the necessary certifications and regain their authorizations.
Pixbet’s Response to the Ordinance
Pixbet responded to the development by filing a writ of mandamus, claiming the suspension lacked grounds since it had submitted the necessary documents on time.
Pixbet said it had tendered three of the four required certification documents in February and sent the final integration certificate on April 10.

Furthermore, the company labeled the ordinance 'illegal and disproportionate,' arguing it damaged its reputation and finances, especially its BRL470 million sponsorship deal with Flamengo.
A week before the ordinance, Brazillian Série A club Flamengo unveiled FlaBet as its shirt sponsor in a partnership with PixBet. The suspension would have likely affected the deal since only licensed betting firms can sponsor sports teams in Brazil.
Pixbet's license was restored later that Friday evening after Judge Anderson Santos da Silva reversed the suspension.
The judge ruled that Pixbet could resume operations, placing Normative Ordinance No 787 on hold pending further notice from the court. However, the ruling does not cover the other three operators, as they remain suspended until they submit the required certification documents.
