In May, the state posted an iGaming revenue of $3.9 million, a 3.3% decrease compared to April’s $4.4 million. However, compared year-on-year, the total grew by 216% from May 2023’s $1.2 million.

The revenue decline was largely due to the underperformance of two of the three casinos available in the state. Bally’sDover saw a significant 25.4% fall in earnings from $1.05 million in April to $776,191 in May. Similarly, Harrington's revenue plummeted by 39.3% from $1.4 million in April to $848,354 in May.

Delaware Park, however, bucked the trend, with a 13.6% increase in revenue to $2.3 million from $2 million in April. The last time Delaware iGaming revenue saw an increase month-on-month was in March when it surged by 18.0% to $4.6 million.

In the month, players wagered $136.0m on online casino games, a 227.7% increase from $41.5m in March 2023. The figure also rose by 16.0% from February's total spending of $117.2m.

Sports Betting Figures Follow iGaming Trend

The sports betting results in the First State mirror the trend in the iGaming industry. While it has been increasing year-on-year by significant percentages, it has declined month-on-month.

For instance, the state's last sports wagering numbers published for April showed a remarkable 400% YoY increase in sports betting handle to $15.5 million. However, the figure fell by 18% behind March 2024’s $18.9 million.

Revenue remained steady in the month at $1.0 million. The upward year-on-year surge the state is experiencing in its different gaming sectors has been attributed to the launch of the Delaware Lottery’s online casino and sportsbook powered by Rush Street Interactive. The platform launched on 27 December and allows players to access a range of sports wagering options and casino games.
