Entain to Help Treat Video Gaming Addiction
Entain (LON: ENT), one of the gambling industry’s biggest companies, is aiming to increase its safer gambling and customer protection measures by expanding its work to include external partners. The company will be providing additional education and support to partners that work in other forms of digital entertainment, such as video games.
The support will be delivered through the not-for-profit organization Entain Foundation. The Foundation will be working with US partners to help at-risk players in both the UK and Europe.
One of the first stages will be the launch of ‘Mind Your Game’ in the UK in collaboration with Game Quitters, a support community for victims of gaming disorder, and Kindbridge, a teletherapy company that treats problem gamblers and gamers who suffer from mental health issues.
The initiative will provide players and their loved ones with facts about mental health problems often faced by gamers together with advice about how to receive support. The Entain Foundation also sponsors a social media educational initiative that aims to raise awareness of potential addiction amongst UK players.
A second initiative, in collaboration with EPIC Risk Management, will be providing education and support for those at risk of online addiction and gaming disorder in the video gaming and interactive entertainment markets. Also working on this initiative is the Counter-Strike Professional Players Association, which represents professional eSports players.
Our business is all about understanding and meeting the needs of customers, which means offering the most entertaining experiences whilst doing everything we can to protect them. At the core of our approach to sustainability is our belief that delivering the highest possible levels of player safety and protection is the best way to guarantee our long-term success.
The latest push from Entain comes after the company launched a Sustainability Charter last year that included responsible gaming and investing in people and communities in its core beliefs. The company promised to invest £100 million in the Foundation by 2025 to support educational and support projects.
