Global gambling operator Entain (LON: ENT) has announced that its Foundation has extended its partnership with the sports charity SportsAid. The partnership will see Entain provide funding to top British athletes right through until the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Entain Foundation is set to double its financial backing to SportsAid, which will take its financial commitment to roughly £500,000 by Paris 2024. Some of the recipients of SportsAid funding are currently competing in the Tokyo Paralympics, such as table tennis player Craig Allen, wheelchair fencer Abigail Marshall, track and field stars Charles Dobson and Joel Clarke-Khan, and wheelchair basketball talent Dylan Wade.
In fact, 165 of the 227 members of the GB Paralympics team have received financial support from SportsAid at some point during their careers.
Entain has been working with SportsAid since 2018. The gambling operator currently supports more than 50 athletes each year in the UK, helping them fund training, competition, travel, and equipment costs.
In addition to providing athletes with financial support, Entain also works with SportsAid to supply them with recognition and personal development opportunities. A core element of the partnership is the delivery of workshops to athletes, their parents, and guardians, to provide advice on topics such as nutrition, mental wellbeing, and dealing with the media.

Following the incredible performance from British athletes at this year’s Olympic Games and the Paralympics getting under way in Tokyo, we are delighted to extend our SportsAid partnership for a further three years. Our collaboration with SportsAid is a huge source of pride for everyone at Entain and plays a pivotal role in supporting the next generation of British sporting heroes.
The support for athletes provided through SportsAid is part of The Entain Foundation’s multi-million-pound grassroots sports investment program. Other elements of the program include support for local football clubs in the Trident leagues as part of the “Pitching In” initiative, backing for Greek athletes through bwin’s Team Future program, and other international initiatives in countries where Entain operators to help community sport.
