ESPN Bet Goes Live in Washington DC
Penn Entertainment has announced the official launch of ESPN Bet sportsbook in Washington DC.
With the launch, residents of the District can now place bets via ESPN Bet and access other features of the platform, like parlays, daily odds boosts, and live betting options.
The development also means that ESPN Bet is now live in 20 states across the US, including Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, and New York.

ESPN Bet Teams Up with MSE
ESPN Bet was able to secure online market access in the nation’s capital after signing a long-term partnership with Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE), a leading sports and venue management company in the jurisdiction.
As part of the agreement, ESPN Bet will become the official sports betting partner of MSE’s franchises, including basketball teams Washington Wizards and Mystics as well as the Washington Capitals ice hockey team.
The sportsbook will also collaborate with MSE to elevate fan engagement through a multi-channel marketing initiative, featuring in-arena promotions, media integrations, and co-branded features on Monumental Sports Network's (MNMT) Capitals and Wizards game broadcasts.

Stiff Competition in DC Market
In DC, ESPN Bet will have to contend with the likes of BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel, who have already gained a strong foothold in the market.
These sportsbooks collectively generated nearly $3.9 million in revenue during December 2024. Of the total, FanDuel took the lion's share at $2.9 million, while DraftKings and Fanatics claimed second and third spots with $0.7 million and $0.2 million respectively.
