FanDuel Partners Boyd Gaming for Sportsbook Branding
FanDuel and Boyd Gaming have signed a partnership that will see the former officially brand the Fremont Hotel Casino sportsbook.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Fremont Hotel sportsbook will be renamed as FanDuel sportsbook and offer odds from the operator. However, Boyd Gaming will continue to operate the sportsbook and manage its operations.
Boyd Gaming is a hospitality and gaming company with ten casino locations in Las Vegas, where it runs its sports betting business through its retail and mobile sports wagering division, Boyd Sports.
Before this new deal, FanDuel and Boyd Gaming have initially inked an agreement that allows the sportsbook operator to operate retail and mobile sports betting in Boyd casinos in eight out of nine states the company is licensed in the coming year.
We believe the FanDuel Sportsbook would be a great addition to the Fremont and the downtown area. We look forward to sharing more details following the receipt of required regulatory approvals.
FanDuel, which currently operates sports betting in 15 states of the US, including Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio, is not licensed to launch its sportsbook app in Nevada. Before October 2015, it offered daily fantasy sports but had to end the business when the state of Nevada concluded that daily fantasy was a form of sports betting.
However, as August approaches and the Nevada Gaming Commission plans to sit, the licensing of sports betting apps is expected to be one of the agendas that will be discussed in the meeting.
This week, FanDuel announced the appointment of Carolyn Renzin as its new Chief Legal Officer to oversee the company’s legal, risk, regulatory engagement, compliance, and responsible gaming policies.
