Flamengo Star Bruno Henrique Accused of Betting Scandal
The Brazilian Federal Police have brought charges against Bruno Henrique, a winger for Flamengo, for alleged match-fixing and fraud related to a 2023 match against Santos.

Investigations revealed that Bruno Henrique's brother, Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior, was among those who had placed bets on the outcome. His account raised red flags with a betting operator due to suspicious behavior and unusual volume, leading to a blocked withdrawal on one of his bets.
Suspicious Messages Uncovered
The Federal Police also found evidence of WhatsApp messages on Wander's phone suggesting Henrique may have informed his brother about receiving a yellow card. In one message, Wander asked Bruno Henrique if he could make it to the Santos match without getting a card, and Bruno said he'd only get one if he "went in hard" on an opponent.

In another exchange cited by the police, Wander wrote: "On the day you gave me the tip about the yellow card, I bet 3,000 to win 12,000."
Another message shows Wander requesting R$4,000 from the player, alluding to the suspended bet. While Bruno Henrique's responses were vague or dismissive, investigators saw the conversation as evidence of collusion.
The authorities also examined Henrique's phone, but it yielded little relevant information. Of the nearly 4,000 conversations reviewed, many were blank or had been deleted. Investigators believe that Henrique had cleared the incriminating messages.
Besides the Flamengo player, eight others, including Wander's wife and one of Bruno Henrique's cousins, were also indicted.
