Indiana Releases Impressive April Sports Wagering Report
The state of Indiana has recorded a positive growth in its sports betting market year-on-year in April.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:In the month, the total sports betting handle reached $393.9m, an increase of 22.6% compared to $321.4m in April last year. However, the figure fell 21.4% behind March 2024’s handle of $500.8 million.
Regarding revenue, the state operators reported a combined taxable adjusted gross revenue of $37.1m for the month. This total is 26.2% ahead of the $29.4 million generated last year but lower by 5.8% compared to the $39.4 million obtained in March.
In April, the state collected a total tax of $3.5m.
FanDuel and Blue Chip Attain First Position
Looking at individual operator performances, FanDuel and Blue Chip Casino led the market in April with $15.3 million in revenue from $129.1m spent by players.
Despite having the highest handle at $145.7m, DraftKings and Ameristar Casino, the previous market leaders in March, secured second place with $12.6m in revenue.
Belterra Casino, in partnership with FanDuel, maintained its third position, generating $3.0m in revenue from $31.7 million in total bets.
In other areas, Hollywood Lawrenceburg and ESPN Bet achieved $2.2 million in revenue from a $25.2 million handle. French Lick Resort and partner bet365, followed closely with a revenue of $1.7m from a handle of $23.9m.
Harrah’s Hoosier Park and Caesars earned $1.2 million in revenue from $20.3 million in bets.

Basketball Generates Highest Handle
In terms of sporting events, basketball, once again, emerged as the most popular sport amongst bettors in Indiana, drawing in a total of $121.5m in wagers.
Baseball was the second top choice with a $67.7 million handle. American football attracted $2.9 million in bets, a total of $84.4 million was wagered across other sports, while parlay betting amounted to $116.8m.
