The Communications Ministry in Indonesia made the decision due to the DuckDuckGo search engine promoting the ability of users to use the site with privacy settings. Certain content, including gambling activities, is prohibited in the region, and the regulators feel uncomfortable that individuals can access sites they are unable to monitor.
The authorities have also blocked social media platforms Reddit and Vimeo, which have the potential to access unsuitable content, including illegal gambling activities in the country.
