ITIA Bans Dominican Republic Tennis Official for Game-fixing
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has taken decisive action against a national-level Dominican Republic officer for violating the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).

Juan Gabriel Castro has been suspended for 6 years and fined $6,000 after an investigation uncovered 12 breaches of the TACP, a set of rules aimed at preventing and addressing corruption in professional tennis.
The violations occurred in three matches Castro officiated, where he allegedly falsified score entries to manipulate the scoreboard and facilitate corruption.
Following the investigation, Castro was served a Notice of Charge by the ITIA, which required him to respond to the alleged corruption offenses and appear at a hearing to answer the charges. However, he did not respond to the notice, and as a result, the agency imposed a Deemed Sanction on him.
As outlined in the 2025 TACP, the Deemed Sanction is a penalty given to individuals who refuse to participate in the ITIA’s investigative and arbitration process.
Under the rules, Castro had 10 business days to challenge the Deemed Sanction but opted not to do so. Since he has been provisionally suspended since November 7, 2024, the time served will be counted towards his six-year suspension, which is projected to end on November 6, 2030.
During his period of ineligibility, Castro is banned from participating in or attending any tennis events, including those organized or sanctioned by ITIA members like the ATP, ITF, WTA, and national associations.

Milanov Banned Until 2039
Castro's suspension comes barely two months after a Bulgarian tennis official was heavily penalized by the ITIA for multiple corruption and betting breaches.
Stefan Milanov broke the rules of the TACP and was charged with 17 breaches of the guidelines. He was suspended for similar violations in 2022 and served a six-month sentence. His latest 16-year suspension will end in December 2039.
The ITIA is an independent entity founded by its members to protect and promote the integrity of professional tennis events.
