Kick Moves to Regulate Gambling Streams
Kick is implementing stricter KYC and ID verification measures to regulate access to online gambling streams.
Kick’s new regulations will take effect in February 2025.
The streaming platform has unveiled a raft of new regulations, set to take effect in February, which require gambling content to only be streamed from licensed sites that implement ID verification and KYC checks.
The latest move builds on Kick's partnership with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), which targets the removal of exploitative and harmful content from the internet.
As part of its ongoing safety initiatives, Kick has also launched a comprehensive update to its safety hub and introduced customizable chat features for streamers to filter out bot interactions.
Since Kick was launched in 2021, gambling content has been a core component of the platform's offerings. It currently features a lineup of celebrated streamers who have made a name for themselves in the industry.
Interestingly, as Kick implements more stringent regulations, a growing number of streamers are opting to stream their content directly on Stake, a crypto-gambling site co-founded by Bijan Tehrani, who also happens to be a co-founder of Kick.

Xposed Speaks Against Kick’s Reforms
While Kick's latest steps received significant praise, others questioned the company's real motives. One notable critic is Streamer Xposed, who expressed his discontent with the decision on X.
According to Xposed, the original intention behind creating Kick was to provide a platform where gamblers could stream freely without restrictions. He noted that Stake is losing streamers at an alarming rate and has been forced to implement additional KYC checks. As such, the move by Kick, Xposed suggested is a clear attempt to drive users back to Stake and promote their own products.
Furthermore, Xposed noted that Kick's algorithm penalizes streamers who feature non-Stake gambling content. As a result, their viewer counts plummet, and they are excluded from the platform's front page and recommended section, making it increasingly challenging for them to gain visibility and grow their audience.
