Malta Gaming Authority Starts Hunt for Next CEO
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has started looking for its next CEO after announcing the departure of Carl Brincat.
Brincat is due to step down from the role on 25 January 2024, having been in the position of CEO since January 2021. The regulator is eager to find a replacement as soon as possible so that the newcomer is able to shadow Brincat for a time before he departs.
Carl has made extensive contributions to the MGA and to the gaming industry in Malta. We are confident in and very thankful for the strong foundation he leaves behind as we continue to pursue the MGA’s strategic goals.
High Expectations from Applicants
According to the MGA, they require a “dynamic, passionate and a highly influential strategic thinker”. The CEO will report to the board of governors and they will be charged with “the execution of the Authority’s strategy, as laid out by the board of governors, and for the efficient and effective operation of the ordinary functions of the Authority as set out in the law.”
Furthermore, applicants must have a Malta Qualification Framework Level 6 (a BA) at the minimum and qualifications in law, accountancy, business, finance and administration are preferable.
The CEO will be required to work with local and foreign stakeholders, in particular other gambling regulation authorities. Applicants should have at least five years of experience in senior roles and will be charged with overseeing the MGA’s financial performance.
Applications Now Open
Those interested in applying should submit a CV detailing their main accomplishments and relevant qualifications. Applicants must also have three references and a cover letter.
Those deemed suitable will then be invited for interview with the MGA’s selection panel. Three people will then advance to the second round before one person is awarded the job.
