Mansion Group Pulls Out of UK Due to UKGC’s Strict Regulations
Mansion Group, a highly respected iGaming operator, has announced that it will be leaving the UK market after close to two decades due to the increasingly strict regulations imposed by the UK Gambling Commission.
While the UK market is considered to be one of the best-regulated in the world, the UKGC has been introducing a number of strict measures that are designed to protect players and prevent gambling-related harms.
Some of these regulations are intended to prevent money laundering, while others relate to social responsibility. While these may be to the benefit of players, they increase operational costs and reduce operators’ ability to offer bonuses and promotions to customers, which also reduces profitability.
As a result, Mansion Group has said that it will stop accepting new players, deposits, and bets in the UK from January 12, 2023. This will affect all of its brands, including Casino.com, MansionCasino.com, and Slotsheaven.com.
Over the years, the company has been a major presence amongst the best UK online casinos. For instance, from 2006 to 2010, it was the official sponsor of Tottenham Hotspur, and in 2017, it became the Principle Partner of the Premier League club, A.F.C. Bournemouth.
A company spokesperson explained, “Mansion has enjoyed serving UK customers for almost 20 years, but we are all aware of the increasingly challenging regulatory conditions that have led to much narrower paths to profitability and, ultimately, the decision that Mansion has taken.”
The decision comes after several warnings from the UK’s Betting and Gaming Council that over-regulation will ultimately drive operators away from the market and players towards the black market.
