Marie Donoghue Takes Charge of Growth at DraftKings
DraftKings has announced the appointment of Marie Donoghue as its new Chief Business & Growth Officer.
Donoghue is an industry veteran with over two decades of experience working at leading companies like ESPN and Amazon.
Donoghue’s Massive Success at ESPN
While at ESPN, Donoghue served as the Executive Vice President of Global Business & Content Strategy, where she oversaw ESPN films and launched multiple digital properties like the ESPN Films 30 for 30 series.
She was most recently the VP of global sports video for Prime Video. Under her leadership, Amazon's Prime Video service secured a large collection of sports rights, prominently featuring Thursday Night Football. With an annual spending of roughly $1 billion for exclusive NFL rights, Amazon witnessed a 24% increase in viewership during the second year of the 11-year deal.
Donoghue also spearheaded Amazon's foray into sports talk programming and oversaw the development of a documentary lineup, including successful titles like "Kelce" and "Bye Bye Barry."
In her new position, Donoghue will be responsible for steering DraftKings’ strategic direction and expansion efforts. She will oversee customer acquisition and retention initiatives as well as lead business strategies that could drive growth and increase profit for the firm.
We are delighted to welcome Marie Donoghue to our executive team and the immense wealth of experience she brings as a highly regarded leader and trailblazer within our industry. Marie’s exceptional track record speaks for itself, and she is poised to be a transformative force in our company’s future success.
Vermont Launch
Growth is at the core of DraftKings’ vision and this has driven its expansion and innovation in the dynamic United States betting market. Earlier this month, the operator launched its sportsbook in Vermont, allowing bettors in the state to wager on a variety of professional sporting events and benefit from various promotional features.
Vermont makes it the 26th state DraftKings will be operational in the US. The operator is currently the second-largest sportsbook in America, trailing behind only FanDuel in terms of market share and user engagement.
