National Lottery Grant Boosts Somerset Debt Center's Services
A debt center in Somerset has become the latest beneficiary of the National Lottery Grant after receiving £43,000 to support its advisory services.
Located at Holy Trinity Church, Frome, the facility collaborates with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to assist people facing financial difficulties. The facility has a team of eight volunteers who provide face-to-face appointments for clients at their residences or within the church.
The charity was established in 2019 and offers debt counseling to Frome residents and surrounding residents. With the National Lottery funding, the service will be able to operate for an additional three years as well as expand its capacity by 20%.

The grant will also allow the team to proceed with offering a cost-free budgeting course to clients and non-clients in partnership with other Frome-based organizations.
We're delighted The National Lottery Community Fund has recognized our work in this way. We will be able to continue our core debt work and also provide the Money Course to our community, and develop our services further as we identify the needs. This is important because debt takes the joy out of life and becomes a great mental strain on families as well as individuals, and if we can help people with budgeting, we can help prevent debt before it becomes a problem.
National Lottery grants are funded by revenue generated from the sales of National Lottery tickets. Through the scheme, the government supports various organizations and projects across the United Kingdom.
