NCPG announces $320,000 in funding to tackle problem gambling.
On Thursday, the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), a nonprofit committed to reducing gambling-related harm and curbing problem gambling, announced that it has awarded $320,000 in Agility Grants to eight organizations. With this funding, these groups will be able to strengthen their local prevention initiatives, spread awareness about gambling dangers, and support those affected by problem gambling.
Sixth Round of funding Since 2022
Through the Agility Grants program, NCPG supports initiatives aimed at preventing gambling harm, building partnerships, and developing innovative solutions to address gambling-related issues. This funding round marks the sixth since the program’s inception in January 2022, with over $1 million allocated to various preventive programs to date.
Agility Grants are distributed twice yearly, with funding rounds in spring and fall. The latest $320,000 grants fall under the program’s Fall 2024 funding. Looking ahead, NCPG announced that applications for the Spring 2025 round will open on January 15, 2025, with submissions closing on February 26, 2025. Grants for this round will be awarded in May 2025.
The NCPG’s Agility Grants are made possible by funding from the NFL and the NFL Foundation, demonstrating the League’s commitment to responsible betting and gambling awareness through a substantial multi-year partnership. In addition to the NFL, the Agility Grants Program receives funding from FanDuel and PlayTech, which enhances the program’s ability to offer agile and impactful support to combat problem gambling.
As legalized sports gambling grows across the country, so too does the need for community-driven solutions to prevent problem gambling.
Isaacson emphasized the growing need for proactive measures to address the risks of expanding sports betting. She said that they are “proud” to support the NCPG and the strategies they are developing.
