Nebraska Prepares for Two New WarHorse Gaming Casinos
WarHorse Gaming, a part of Ho-Chunk, Inc., the economic development section of the Winnebago Tribe, is in the process of setting up two land-based casino resorts in Nebraska.
Assuming all goes to plan, Nebraska will soon be home to the WarHorse Casino Lincoln at Lincoln Race Course and WarHorse Casino Omaha at Horsemen’s Park. The hope is that not only will the developments create jobs and stimulate the local economy, but they will also help grow the state’s sports betting industry.
Hopes for Economic Growth
There are high hopes that the introduction of brick-and-mortar casinos at licensed horse racetracks will stimulate economic growth in their respective regions when they open next year. There are further development plans for both casinos, including on-site hotels that will house roughly 200 guestrooms.
The WarHorse Casino Omaha opened a temporary venue in September 2022, offering visitors more than 400 slot machines and pari-mutuel simulcast betting. Located within the infield at Horsemen’s Park, it was the operator’s first step in Omaha. The operator then applied to increase its offering and introduce sports betting.

Sports Betting to Launch Next Month
Recently, the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission approved WarHorse to offer sports betting at specific venues from 1 November. The company has formed a partnership with Kambi in order to facilitate this and it is expected to go live next week.
The timing is fortuitous as it coincides with the peak of the football season. Local sports fans will be able to back their favorite teams without needing to travel to Iowa to place their bets and there is the potential to completely transform Nebraska’s gaming landscape.
