Paddy Power Enlists Danny Dyer for Its First Comic Christmas Ad
Paddy Power, the global gaming operator and bookmaker has joined the long list of businesses to have a festive promotion with the launch of its Christmas advertisement featuring Danny Dyer & Eddie Hearn.
Danny Dyer & Eddie Hearn star in Paddy Power’s first Christmas Ad.
This is the first attempt from the gaming operator at a Christmas promotion and Danny Dyer, a well known actor in the United Kingdom (UK) and legendary promoter Barry Hearn are featured in the advertisement, playing characters at different stages of their lives.
The advert called A Shirt’s Not Just for Christmas; it's for life, has a storyline that stars Danny Dyer as a Hardlypool, a fictional team, supporter and it tells the story of the life of a football fan who experiences the highs and lows of supporting a football team.
There was only ever one team for me, and it certainly wasn't Millwall! West Ham were my first true love – ever since I got given that shirt as a kid I've been hooked. There's no better feeling than getting that shirt on. You wear that shirt with pride every time you put it on. You back them through it all. The good and the bad.

Paddy Power Highlights the Journey of a Football Fan
Paddy Power, part of the Flutter group, said the message behind the ad is the support of a sporting club from the time a fan receives their first shirt. He said the bookmaker tried to add some humor to the Christmas promotion as the gaming company wanted to focus on the joy of the festive holiday.
Paddy Power has a reputation for headline-grabbing publicity stunts that are designed to raise brand awareness. Often it collaborates with charitable organizations to highlight social issues with promotions like its drive to raise awareness for prostate cancer earlier this year which raised £832,000 to help combat the illness.
Like so many fans, I got my first football shirt from my dad, and it set me up for a lifetime of passion, loyalty, and a bit of heartbreak - which is a bit of a clue to who I support! But let's be honest, we all need a laugh at Christmas – and that's what this is all about. A shirt's not just for Christmas; it's for life.
