Powerball’s Jackpot Surges to $575 Million after 3 Months
The Powerball jackpot has increased to $575 million and as it continues rising may likely enter the top 10 biggest lottery prizes in the coming weeks if there is no winner.
The jackpot, which has been growing for three months, has seen no one claim it after 38 drawings and no ticket matching all six required numbers.
The Powerball increased to $540 million on Monday night with the cash option of $384.3 million before taxes. The numbers increased even more today, with the jackpot already at $575 million with cash value of over $409 million.
While the jackpot top prize is enough to set, the chance of winning it is steep at a ratio of 1 in 292 million.
However, there are smaller amounts a player can win in each drawing. In the last Powerball drawing, a ticket purchased in Florida won $10 million in the game’s Double Play.
In addition, a player in Maryland landed $2 million while three winning tickets got $1 million each.
Although the prize is huge, it isn’t enough to launch it into the top 10 largest lottery jackpots. The Powerball jackpot will have to surpass at least the 648 million won by two ticket holders in California and Georgia in 2013 to enter the list.
