Pragmatic Play Donates to Gibraltar Red Cross to Aid Earthquake Response
The iGaming supplier Pragmatic Play has announced that it has made a donation of €100,000 to the British Red Cross (Gibraltar) to help the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey on 6 February and caused widespread damage, leaving thousands trapped in collapsed buildings and destroying infrastructure across the country. A second earthquake of 7.5 magnitude then hit later that day.
A massive rescue operation has been underway ever since. Thousands of rescue workers and volunteers have been working tirelessly, not only trying to locate survivors but also providing supplies such as blankets, tents, and food. It is thought that the earthquake killed more than 45,000 people and injured more than 100,000.
Pragmatic Play’s donation will be used to support aid efforts and the provision of emergency medical treatment, shelter, food, warm blankets, and winter kits.
What has happened in Turkey and Syria is truly devastating. Pragmatic Play stands in solidarity with all those affected, and we are proud to support the British Red Cross (Gibraltar Branch) and their contribution to humanitarian efforts in the region. We urge everyone to donate what they can to ensure that urgent aid continues to be delivered at this time of exceptional need.
Cdr Edward L Davies RN, the Chairman of the British Red Cross Gibraltar Branch, expressed his thanks to Pragmatic Play for the donation. He added, “With our vital work still ongoing, we welcome any other donations which can be made through the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal website.”
