Senacon Unveils New Rule to Protect Bettors' Rights in Brazil
The National Consumer Agency (Senacon) and the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) have jointly issued a directive requiring operators under the Brazil Bets regime to register on the Consumidor.gov.br platform.

Senacon uses the free public service platform to resolve consumer disputes and enhance communication between consumers and businesses operating in Brazil. By introducing this measure, the government aims to protect the rights of bettors and provide a direct and efficient means for them to submit and monitor their complaints.
The addition of betting companies to the platform will also enable the National Consumer Defense System to effectively track and supervise consumer complaints.
Since its establishment, Consumidor.gov.br has reportedly resolved over 8.9 million complaints, with an 81% resolution rate.
The new order has been officially authorized by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Ministry of Finance, establishing it as a new federal regulation.
Before engaging in online betting activities, consumers are advised to check Consumidor.gov.br to confirm whether their chosen platform is licensed. This verification process provides an added layer of protection for consumer rights.
The participation of betting operators in the Consumidor.gov.br platform reflects the Ministry of Finance's commitment to ensuring that all practices are carried out in accordance with legal standards, with respect for consumer-bettors.

Complaints Filing Process
Going forward, consumers can register disputes against licensed betting operators directly on the platform. They will need to search for the gambling company's name on the site and fill out an online form.
The operator is then required to address the complaints within 10 days. After receiving the final response, consumers can submit feedback, classify the outcome as resolved or unresolved, and provide a satisfaction rating.
In cases where a business fails to comply with platform regulations or acts in bad faith, Senacon may refer the case to higher authorities for penalty enforcement.
Mandatory registration on Consumidor.gov.br is a fundamental step to ensure that bettors' rights are respected. Now, Brazilians have a direct and efficient channel to register and monitor their complaints, strengthening balance in consumer relations.
