Social Distancing to Go at Vegas Casinos

Casinos in Nevada will be returning to normal operations next week after the Nevada Gaming Control Board announced that all remaining social distancing and capacity limit restrictions will be removed on June 1.

Nevada Gaming Control Board will remove all remaining social distancing

This means that casinos throughout Nevada can operate according to their usual capacity limits and players will not be required to keep their distance from one another on the casino floor. However, the Board said that if Covid-19 begins to spread faster in the state then the restrictions may be reintroduced.

On May 26, 227 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Nevada and the seven-day average was 219, the lowest it has been since June 2020.

Earlier this month a few casinos in Las Vegas were allowed to return to full capacity with reduced social distancing measures on the casino floor. Caesars (NASDAQ: CZR) returned to 100% fire code capacity without social distancing measures at Bally’s Las Vegas, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, The Cromwell, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, The LINQ Hotel + Experience, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino

The lifting of restrictions will also apply to all of MGM’s (NYSE: MGM) Las Vegas properties, which include the Bellagio Resort & Casino, ARIA Resort & Casino, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Park MGM, The Mirage Hotel & Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Luxor Hotel and Casino and Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has voted to remove all coronavirus related restrictions at casinos, horseracing and simulcasting venues. This means that Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor will have their restrictions lifted on May 29.
