Spiffbet Boosts Portfolio with Helmicasino.com Acquisition
Online casino operator Spiffbet has announced its acquisition of the dormant Helmicasino.com domain for SEK300,000 (£22,542/$27,521).
The website was previously managed by an unnamed operator under a different license in Finland but closed early this year due to changes in payment methods.
Spiffbet now plans to relaunch the site at the beginning of next month under a Malta Gaming Authority license. The operator anticipates that the relaunch will incur additional expenses besides marketing.
Spiffbet is already live in Finland with two of its gaming brands, including Supernopea.com and Turbovegas. The operator also has other brands, like its recently launched Supersnabbt.se and Metal Casino, active in a number of markets like Sweden.
We really thought it was a shame that Helmicasino.com was closed, but we understood at the same time that it was necessary as the conditions to continue operating on the existing license were no longer there. We are happy to offer the casino again to the market with better game selection and better payment options. Spiffbet as a company has brought down the cost level significantly since the beginning of 2022. Now we focus on increasing revenues.
Spiffbet's Strategic Shift
The purchase aligns with Spiffbet’s objective to invest more in its online casino business. In August 2023, Spiffbet sold its game development studio STGLM Gaming to Swedish games provider Million Games. The sale signifies the company’s shift from game development to focusing exclusively on live online casinos.
At the time, the company stated that it did not have the resources to develop the segment alongside its online casino operations.
