Stake Names Thomas Carvalhaes to Head Brazil Operations
Stake, the leading sportsbook and gaming operator, has announced the appointment of Thomas Carvalhaes as Country Manager for the Brazilian region. This comes as the gaming operator launches its platform in the newly regulated Brazilian gaming market.
Carvalhaes is set to lead a small team of employees for the Brazilian operations of Stake, as the jurisdiction has launched a new legislative gambling framework in Brazil at the start of this year, with more than 60 gaming operators granted licenses by the regulators for the new market in the region.
We are very excited about the regulated environment and everything that is happening in the Brazilian market, its growth and the way it is establishing itself. I am taking the lead of a brand that has the ability to innovate and find the right opportunities to speak with the right audience, that is something really powerful and definitely a winning combination.

Stake to Continue its Sports Clubs Relationships in Brazil
Senior leadership at Stake has identified the gaming market in Brazil as key for the business objective for the company. It is estimated the gambling market in the jurisdiction will rank among the top gaming markets worldwide and could achieve gambling revenues second in the world.
There were concerns that changes to the gambling framework in Brazil could affect the revenue generated by sporting clubs through sponsorship from gambling companies. The Stake brand has close links through sponsorship with an array of sporting clubs located in Brazil, including Juventude FC, and UFC. The new regulations in the gaming jurisdiction in Brazil have not affected the links between Stake and these leading sports teams in the country.
For Stake the licence means a further step in its global expansion into regulated markets. In this case, the relevance of the market and the speed in which we have achieved it is a good example of how we work. Stake Brazil users can expect a similar experience to Stake.com; the best customer service, good product, good games and in general what we have always been known for which is to put the customer at the centre of all operations, marketing, and product decisions.
Stake is one of the tier 1 operators to have applied for a new license since the Brazilian regulator outlined its new gambling legislation for 2025.
