Steve Albini Wins Big at 2022 WSOP Event
Legendary producer and engineer Steve Albini has earned his second World Series of Poker gold bracelet after knocking out a field of 773 players to win the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event on June 18.
The win saw the legendary player take home $196,089 in prize money. In his interview with WSOP.com, Albini asserted that his commitment formed a larger part of why he won the poker event. He also stated that he only plays tournaments at the World Series of Poker while he plays cash games informally in Chicago.
According to Albini, poker is a part of his livelihood and not his profession. Although he is a very good poker player, Albini is well-known for his musical prowess. He is the musician behind two hit songs, Shellac and Big Black. He has also recorded several classic records for other artists.
Albini won his first gold bracelet in 2018 after beating 310 players in Seven Card Stud, earning $105,639.
I was all in a million times in this tournament. In the Stud tournament, the bracelet that I won in 2018, I was never all in in that tournament. I was never short of chips. But it still felt like I kind of fluked it because I beat a table full of really great players that I didn’t expect to beat. This time it felt like a fluke because I was so short on chips so often, and I kept getting all in, and I kept surviving.
Adding a special thrill to the event, WSOP organized a special tournament for 14 social media influencers to win a WSOP gold bracelet in April.
