Tabcorp Formally Names Gillon McLachlan as New CEO
Tabcorp, the leading gambling and gambling services provider, has formally announced the appointment of Gillon McLachlan as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:It sees McLachlan officially take over from CEO Adam Rytenskild who resigned last year, with the appointment coming into immediate effect. Tabcorp states the appointment has been approved following the appropriate regulatory checks from gaming authorities.
University-educated McLachlan joined the Australian-based bookmaker in August last year as an Observer at senior management level. He previously worked for the Australian Football League (AFL) and enjoyed a 20-year career with the sporting body. He had various senior management roles at the organization and spent the last 10 years as the CEO of the AFL.

Tabcorp Looking to Restructure the Business
Tabcorp is looking to recover from several setbacks last year that saw the business post a loss of more than AU$1 billion in 2024. McLachlan has been tasked with leading the gaming operator into a new period with the business objective of restructuring the company.
McLachlan has a comprehensive knowledge of betting, racing, sports, and the sports broadcasting sector. Tabcorp believes this makes McLachlan the ideal person to oversee the challenges facing the gambling company in the future.
Gillon brings to the Board extensive experience in managing complex stakeholder environments and government relations. He has a proven track record and deep knowledge and understanding of wagering, sport, racing, and negotiating broadcast rights. He also has extensive racing knowledge as a thoroughbred owner and breeder.
Another setback for Tabcorp In 2024 saw the gaming operator hit with a large fine following a number of breaches of responsible gaming legislation.
