UAE Clears Fennica Gaming for Market Entry
Fennica Gaming has been awarded a gaming vendor license in the UAE by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:The approval allows the Veikkaus subsidiary to offer its games to licensed operators in the UAE. It joins other providers, such as Aristocrat, Novomatic, IGT, EQL Games, Scientific Games and Random State, who have been cleared to launch in the growing gaming industry.
With the license, Fennica has further expanded its portfolio of served nations and regions. The supplier is available in 15 countries across three countries and recently added a B2B license in Greece to its portfolio.
Receiving the gaming related vendor licence from the GCGRA is a significant step for Fennica Gaming as we continue to grow our global presence. When it fully launches, the UAE gaming market is expected to be one of the most lucrative in the region. Experts have suggested that it could even rival major gaming hubs like Macau.
The jurisdiction’s first gaming license was granted to The Game LLC for the lottery sector in July 2024. The company began selling tickets in November 2024, with its first draw taking place on December 14.
In October 2024, UAE issued Wynn Resorts a license for its casino project, which had been under construction since its announcement in 2022.
Last month, the GCGRA signed a MOU with New Jersey state gambling regulators during a visit to Abu Dhabi by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. While the agreement does not specify benefits, it will facilitate the exchange of ideas and regulatory strategies between the two jurisdictions.
