The Tote Group Strengthens Its Board with Two New Directors

The UK Tote Group has announced the appointment of Lord Spencer of Alresford and Mark Holt to its board as Non-Executive Directors. The Tote believe the pair have a wealth of business expertise in different areas and hope this will strengthen the board.

The Tote is the UK’s leading pool betting operator, with betting windows at all racecourses throughout the UK, and also has an online presence. The company recently reported a successful rise in revenue to £168 million across the 5-day Royal Ascot horseracing meeting in June. This revenue was up 35% from £123.9 million for the same meeting in 2021.

Lord Spencer is one of the 150-plus investors in the Tote Group, as well as being a leading entrepreneur in the UK, having founded the hugely successful ICAP plc and NEX plc companies. He also focuses on investing in companies in the early stages of their development. The Tote Group is keen to have Spencer’s business acumen within the boardroom.

Holt joins the board as a Tech Non-Executive Director, bringing his experience in Tech-based companies. This includes spells at CPO Global and Trainline, being part of teams tasked to implement technology transformations in these businesses. He has also worked in the banking sector at the cutting edge of modern technology.
