Wynn Las Vegas Faces September Trial Over Wrongful Death
In late 2023, the family of a woman who passed away after collapsing at Wynn Las Vegas filed a lawsuit against the casino operator.
The claim, which alleges wrongful death and negligence, was submitted to the Clark County District Court. Now, more than two years after the lawsuit was initiated, a judge has set a pretrial conference for August 2025, with the trial itself slated to begin in September.
Wynn Faces Seven Allegations
The Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported that District Judge Mary Kay Holthus has scheduled the civil jury trial for September 8, 2025. A pretrial conference will occur earlier, on August 26, 2025. The proceedings, which are expected to last 15 to 20 days, will address allegations of negligence and wrongful death.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Billie Sakkab’s estate by her husband, Nabil Sakkab, who serves as a co-special administrator alongside family members Nabil Sakkab Jr., Tiffany Pond, and Stephanie Sakkab Colvin.
In total, Wynn Las Vegas faces seven counts, including gross negligence, wrongful death, and claims of negligent training, hiring, supervision, retention, and security. The lawsuit seeks unspecified punitive damages, special damages exceeding $15,000, interest, and reimbursement of legal costs. Wynn has denied all allegations of negligence and wrongful death.

Alleged Failure to Act Promptly
The incident occurred on February 13, 2022, when 74-year-old Billie Sakkab, a regular visitor to Wynn Las Vegas, attended a Super Bowl party. She suddenly collapsed, prompting Wynn employees to call 911 at 5:54 PM. Emergency responders from the Clark County Fire Department arrived within six minutes, with an ambulance following shortly after. Unfortunately, Sakkab was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
The lawsuit alleges that Wynn staff failed to adequately assess the situation or utilize an external defibrillator, which could have saved Sakkab’s life. Additionally, it claims that employees had not been properly trained to deal with emergencies, which contributed to the tragic outcome.
