Daniel Finch Named CEO of Brisbane Operations by the Star

The Star Entertainment Group, the Australian-based casino operator, has announced the appointment of Daniel Finch as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its operations in the state of Brisbane.

Finch has nearly two decades of experience in the hospitality sector and has held senior roles at major hotel groups. In his role of overseeing the gaming venues in Brisbane, Finch will report directly to Robbie Cooke, the company's Group CEO.

The Star Brisbane is the latest venue from the Group and is due to open in the state in 2024. Senior leadership at The Star believes Finch is the ideal candidate to oversee the opening of its new development later this year because he has experience in launching new venues.

Finch is due to take up the new position with Star Entertainment by the mid-point of February this year; this is subject to approval from all the regulatory bodies.

Star Entertainment Reshuffles Leadership Following Rocky 2023

Following a difficult year in 2023, which saw the Group's casino operations in the state of Queensland threatened with suspension, the casino operation has decided to restructure the management of its venues.

This will see the Group create a CEO post for each state in Australia where the company has gaming locations, including Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane.

I’m delighted to welcome Daniel to the team as part of our organizational restructure. We will have a CEO in each of our venues in Sydney, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Daniel’s appointment is the second, following Jess Mellor’s promotion to CEO of Gold Coast. Daniel brings exceptional leadership capability to The Star, having developed high-performance teams while overseeing Expedia brands and businesses in Australia and New Zealand. He has a reputation and an exceptional background for building team culture through periods of significant organizational change.
